Job Summary

The overall purpose of the Managed Services Technician is to assist the managed services department through helping operate the retail store, provide assistance with computers, projects, and installations for both internal and external jobs. This employee will be responsible for repairs as well as running cabling.

Tasks, Duties + Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by having professional interactions

  • Assist customers in the retail store including recommending solutions and process purchases

  • Resolve customer issues - includes retail store and computer repair

  • Ensure efficiency with computer repair

  • Assist co-workers on an individualistic and team-based format

  • Cell phone repairs - including screen replacements, misc. parts replacement, and the diagnosing phone problems

  • On-site and remote computer and networks repairs

  • Data recovery for computers and other storage devices

  • Transfer data from one computer to another

  • Perform server maintenance

  • Perform on-site maintenance for contract customers including working with enterprise clients

  • Perform maintenance and service on Apple and Samsung products

  • Give customers tutorials on multiple products - including one-on-one and class settings

  • Ability to run and terminate different types of cabling: rj-11, rj-45, and coax)

  • Ability to use both power and manual tools

  • Ability to install and maintain cameras and video surveillance equipment

  • Ability to work safely from heights

  • All other tasks and duties as assigned

Job Specifications

  1. License: A valid Driver’s License is required; A+ certification is preferred

  2. Education: High School Degree or Equivalent is required

  3. Experience: Past computer repair and cable running experience is preferred

  4. Knowledge: Proficient in the operation and repair of a computer, proficient in using e-mail, customer service principles and practices, relevant product knowledge including Windows, Samsung, and Apple products.

  5. Skills: Data entry through use of a keyboard, quality customer service skills, active listening skills, problem analysis, problem solving, organizational skills, quality verbal and written communication skills, computer repair skills, cell phone and tablet repair skills, cabling skills.

  6. Abilities: English language comprehension and expression, stress tolerance, adaptability, problem sensitivity, attention to detail and ability to work with a team, ability to work from heights, ability to maintain balance on ladder, ability to create and run cabling.

Job Context

Business Casual (company provided shirt) dress in a retail environment. The environment may also be on customer premises, in attics or basements. There also may be times where you must work from heights on ladders, etc.

Physical Requirements

Sitting, standing, crouching for extended periods of time, walking, bending, kneeling, occasional pulling, and pushing. Finger and hand dexterity, balance from heights, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
